Job Summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is looking for an individual to join their team as either a Pipeline Integrity Engineer or a Sr. Pipeline Integrity Engineer. Note: Candidates' applications will be screened and qualified at the level commensurate based on the minimum qualifications. Salary will be commensurate accordingly.

 

Pipeline Integrity Engineer

 

This position is responsible for evaluating the integrity of pipelines and determining what strategies to employ to proactively manage the integrity for the asset, performing Integrity Management Program (IMP) risk assessments, and evaluating the design, construction, and maintenance aspects of pipe line projects to ensure compliance with IM regulations.  Provides engineering expertise to operational personnel on integrity issues as they arise.  Carries out moderately complex assignments with limited supervision and is competent to handle engineering projects within governmental and contractual requirements.

 

Sr. Pipeline Integrity Engineer

 

This position is responsible for evaluating the integrity of pipelines and determining what strategies to employ to proactively manage the integrity for the asset, performing Integrity Management Program (IMP) risk assessments, and evaluating the design, construction, and maintenance aspects of pipe line projects to ensure compliance with IM regulations.  Provides engineering expertise to operational personnel on integrity issues as they arise.  Carries out complex assignments with limited supervision and is competent to handle engineering projects within governmental and contractual requirements. 

Minimum Qualifications

Pipeline Integrity Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science – Engineering
  • 4 years of job-related experience
  • Knowledge of Pipeline operations
  • Knowledge of Terminal operations preferred
  • Understanding and application of 49 CFR 195 and 192 and various applicable industry standards (ASME B31.4, B31.8, API 1160, etc)
  • Operation, capabilities and limitations of In-Line Inspection tools
  • Pipeline repair techniques and their application
  • KAPA / ModB31G and corrosion growth calculations
  • Proficiency in MSOffice and technical writing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Sr. Pipeline Integrity Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science – Engineering
  • 8 years of job-related experience
  • Knowledge of Pipeline operations
  • Knowledge of Terminal operations preferred
  • Understanding and application of 49 CFR 195 and 192 and various applicable industry standards (ASME B31.4, B31.8, API 1160, etc)

Job Duties

 

Pipeline Integrity Engineer

  • Document all aspects of pipeline integrity management plan. Acts as an internal advisor and is an integrity management expert. Perform written plan updates and initiate plan changes as needed to maintain IMP regulatory compliance. Organize supporting documentation and plan for regulatory audits.
  • Coordinate with and assist operations on pipeline IMP assessments (inline inspections, hydrostatic tests, other) to ensure assessment deadlines are met.
  • Analyze pipeline data – performs the most complex engineering analysis (EFRD analysis, leak detection), perform analysis for High Consequence Areas, identify new pipeline threats,  prepare pre-assessment data, select appropriate assessment methods, interpret risk model results, recommend applicable preventative and mitigative measures, recommend re-assessment intervals and draft written post-assessment reports.
  • Analyze assessment data – review and integrate assessment data, prepare remediation and excavation plans, evaluation of defects and repair recommendations, prepare technical exhibits to assist in field assessment activities. Identify and recommend other pertinent preventative and maintenance measures for risk reduction. Perform technical analysis to evaluate pipeline condition, root cause analysis, fatigue analysis, corrosion growth calculations and fitness for service. Draft summary assessment reports.
  • Provide technical support for Pipeline Integrity Projects including welding calculations, material selections, determination of required hydrostatic test pressures, MOP/MAOP calculations.  Provide technical support to Terminal and Pipeline Operations field personnel to identify needs for any pipeline modifications (i.e. piggability retrofit) and coordinate with engineering to implement.
  • Provide technical assistance for operations and develop training/guidance to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to Integrity Management (IM) requirements.  Responsible for technical portions of the IM related audits and associated follow up action items.
  • Review and evaluate new IM technology. Develop corresponding processes and procedures for use.  Perform quality audits of contractor work to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Manage associated contracts with ILI vendors to ensure contract compliance and availability of required resources to support our IM Plan requirements.
  • Provides support as required in development of Terminal and Pipelines capital and expense budget.
