Job Summary

Performs analysis of petrochemical feed-stocks, intermediates, and finished products in a production facility laboratory.  Collects, distributes and disposes of samples.  Records test results in designated locations.  Records tracking information and samples and stores the samples in designated locations.  Maintains a safe and clean work environment.  Maintains laboratory records.  Exhibits competency in all relevant laboratory test methods.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or related degree or 4 years of laboratory experience in lieu of degree
  2. Chemical or petroleum refining experience preferred
  3. Valid driver's license and ability to drive a truck
  4. Selected individuals must be able to climb, work outdoors, wear SCBA equipment and work a rotating shift schedule in a 24-hour operation
  5. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  6. Basic knowledge of computers
  7. Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility
    1. TWIC Eligibility Requirements:  The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and Transportation Security Administration.  All candidates must be eligible to receive a TWIC in order to be considered for an offer.

Job Duties

  1. Performs analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products
  2. Sample pick up throughout refinery
  3. Records and validates data and calibrates equipment
  4. Communicates with Plant Operations personnel and customers
  5. Stores samples and documentation in designated locations
  6. Performs tests using analytical equipment
  7. Disposes of samples after testing is complete
  8. Operates bottle washer
