    Job Summary

    The Chemical Engineer Intern will become familiar with the refinery organization and work processes while learning refinery safety practices. The Intern will begin working on various projects throughout the refinery under the direction of a more senior engineer. A presentation to senior leadership at the end of term is expected covering all aspects of the internship experience and accomplishments.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, must be at least a junior level Chemical Engineering student and must have completed the following courses: Mass and Energy Balance (Conservation Principles), Organic Chemistry and Thermodynamics before beginning the internship.

    GPA of 3.0 or above (A=4.0)

     

    OR

     

    *If enrolled in a graduate level program, must be enrolled part time in Chemical Engineering or relevant field.

     

    Candidates must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials Card)

     

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates selected for employment must meet eligibility criteria to obtain a TWIC card.

    *Must have current valid drivers license.*

    Job Duties

    • Assist with or perform engineering duties which may include: feasibility studies, economic analysis of projects, process design, equipment specification, and evaluation and selection of equipment and materials.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot process unit performance.
    • Study and develop short and long term solutions to process unit problems.
    • Find and implement ideas to improve the profitability of various process units.
