    Job Duties


    Initiate / Coordinate Refinery energy management activities to improve overall performance. Gather data, analyze energy performance, communicate results, set Refinery targets, understand industry trends, and make recommendations for the refinery to improve performance. Recommendations include capital or expense projects, procedure enhancements, and management system improvements. Benchmark refinery energy performance against competitors/industry. Initiate, formulate, and communicate the Refinery Utilities Medium Term Plan and Budgets. Supervise the development of the Refinery Utilities Medium Term Plan and annual Utilities Budget. Communicate Plan's and Budget's to management. Track, monitor and report Refinery performance and develop the presentation used for the Monthly Accountability Meeting. Direct the development of the energy input data for the Solomon bi-annual survey. Perform a gap analysis on the energy portion of the survey results. Provide technical assistance to refinery departments in addressing current issues and long term opportunities related to natural gas, power and steam utilities. Initiate, coordinate and supervise the activities of outside consulting groups to improve refinery energy performance. Consultants, such as Solomon Associates, Veritech, etc, are hired to perform refinery studies to improve operations in the near and long term. The consultant's study results are evaluated by this position and a course of action is recommended to management.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Energy and Fuels Management, Petroleum Engineering or related field, plus 4 years' experience performing production and consumption analysis within a Petrochemical Refinery, including experience performing Analysis for Steam and Fuel Gas production and consumption, daily estimation and usage of Utilities, Audits and Process evaluation for energy opportunities.
