Job Summary

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, CITGO Petroleum Corporation is a recognized leader in the refining industry and operates under the well-known CITGO brand. Job Responsibilities:

The Associate Chemical Engineer has a vital role as a project team member who participates in all aspects of project development and implementation for both strategic and non-strategic capital projects. Primary tasks include performing process studies, justifying recommendations based on study findings, developing project scopes, and supporting the engineering effort to define, design, implement, and start-up the projects.

 

Additional duties include:

  • Assist in development of process studies to evaluate potential options (both technically and economically), identify the optimum solution, and participate in development of the scope for the selected option. The selected option could be based on economics, safety, and/or environmental.
  • Review basic process design work performed by engineering contractors on design data, process flow diagrams, P&ID's, process equipment data sheets, and process bid tabulations
  • Support the engineering effort to help define, design, implement, and start-up the assigned project. Assigned projects could be strategic, non-strategic, capital, expense, regulatory, or safety driven.
  • Assist in development of engineering solutions to projects which arise from both planned capital expenditures and from technical service activities in the Refinery

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or above (A=4.0) (Must provide proof of current GPA at time of hire to verify eligibility requirements are met)
  • Refinery/Petrochemical process plant engineering experience providing project engineering or technical support, preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required

Eligibility Requirements:

The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration.
