Job Summary

For this position, job functions will be assigned based on an Employee’s Engineering Discipline:

 

For Mechanical/Civil/Structural/Chemical (non-Electrical) Engineering Degrees:

Assist in the performance of Project Engineering activities which may vary from simple to moderate in various areas as they relate to fixed equipment (tanks, piping, valves), rotating equipment (pumps), and reliability (integrity management and inspection). Work will include supervised observation of inspection and construction activities, complete engineering documentation review (including review of P&IDs, site plans, piping schematics, mechanical and civil detail drawings, etc.) and provide mark-up, work to create engineering-discipline related job scopes for ongoing projects and assist with the update and creation of CITGO specifications as they relate to Terminals & Pipelines Operations, Engineering, and Asset Integrity.

 

For Electrical Engineering Degrees:

Assist in the performance of Project Engineering activities which may vary from simple to moderate in various areas as they relate to Electrical Engineering. Work will include observation of lockout/tagout energy isolation (supervised observation of and participation in zero energy verification), complete electrical engineering documentation review (including review of One-Line Diagrams, arc flash studies, P&IDs, motor control schematics, etc.) and provide mark-up, work to create job scopes for ongoing projects, and assist with the update and creation of CITGO specifications as they relate to Terminals & Pipelines Operations and electrical engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree / List any specialized training or unique skills required:

  • High School Diploma.

  • Must be enrolled in accredited engineering program with a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior classification.

  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA to be considered for internship.

Job Duties

  1. Generate discipline-related work scopes and complete project documentation updates / review.
  2. Familiarize with CITGO Engineering practices and apply as necessary to perform assigned work tasks.
  3. Assist with the update / creation of equipment reliability and integrity plans.
  4. Review existing engineering documentation for completeness and consistency with current policies and procedures, including drawings and technical data. Complete update to documentation as necessary or assigned.
  5. Consult with Senior Project Engineers in the group, and complete site visits in support of ongoing engineering efforts. Site visits may include witnessing of site activities and scoping / verification for projects.

  7. Complete End-of-Internship Summary and make presentation to Terminals & Pipelines Management on overall experience, Lessons Learned, and opportunities for improvement based on experience.
