This is a year-round internship located in Downers Grove IL supporting our Lemont Refinery. Candidate will work part-time during the school year while attending classes, and will work full-time during the summer months.
Provide procurement support in accordance with company procedures and strategic goals while under the direct supervisor’s guidance. Assists or performs the following duties; places purchase orders; selects and negotiates with approved vendors and evaluates vendor reliability; obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality, reliability and urgency of need; schedules deliveries and follows up on orders to expedite delivery and shipment; obtains certifications of delivery and approves payment invoices for orders placed. Maintain records and files as needed. Perform basic analytical tasks and industry research.
This Internship is a year-round internship, with workhours to be determined based on successful candidates’ class schedule each semester.
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Data Analytics or a related field.
• Must be at least a sophomore in college (completion of freshman year) with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Available to work forty hours (40) per week in the summer and twenty hours (20) per week during the school year.
• Basic working knowledge Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
• Valid Driver’s License
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates selected for employment must meet eligibility criteria to obtain a TWIC card.

1. Learn basic CITGO procurement processes, per existing training module.
2. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and requirements, providing assistance in order to fulfill those requirements.
3. Create Purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
4. Support logistics, expedite materials and services, including coordinating shipments, tracking deliveries, and resolving any transportation-related issues.
5. Support the procurement team in issuing requests for proposals (RFPs), evaluating vendor proposals, and negotiating contracts or pricing agreements.
6. Assist in maintaining supplier relationships, including conducting supplier evaluations, addressing issues or concerns, and fostering communication between the organization and its suppliers.
7. Assist in data analysis and reporting tasks related to procurement metrics, such as supplier performance, Delayed PO, POs with free text requiring Material Master, and cost savings initiatives.
8. Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement and supply chain processes.
9. Contribute to special projects or assignments as directed by the procurement or supply chain manager.
10. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all aspects of work performance.
