Job Summary

Develops and executes performance enhancing initiatives and system improvements focused on refining, supply, marketing, and specialty products. Identifies opportunities inside and outside of CITGO. Solutions developed will include growth, both organic and purchases, and internal optimization opportunities. Interacts directly with CITGO and third party executives. Develops unique solutions to complex and broad-based business problems, derives fresh market and business insights from rigorous analysis, initiates creative ideas to uncover untapped business value and drives projects through completion while working collaboratively with the top leadership team.  Leads new business development and participates in negotiations with third parties to close deals.  Provides leadership in identifying and developing new business opportunities and strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Masters Preferred.

The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is:

  • 8 years.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.

The incumbent should be able to demonstrate skills in the following:

  • New business development.
  • Analyzing strategic business requirements, needs, and opportunities.
  • Identifying key risks and actionable opportunities.
  • Distinguishing business drivers and enablers.
  • Translating ideas or trends into opportunities. 

Others:

  • The position requires strong business acumen and considerable experience analyzing enterprise-level data/trends, economics, and markets. 
  • The incumbent should be strategic-minded, creative, capable of multi-tasking, and able to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization orally and in writing.
  • An applicant familiar with the refining business environment and key drivers is required (either through direct experience or through consulting/contracting experience.

Job Duties

  1. Provide leadership in identifying and developing new business opportunities. Works with senior staff of Refining and Supply & Marketing to evaluate business alternatives and provide recommendations. Develops business opportunities that create competitive advantage. Develop or cause to be developed screening or feasibility level economics. Promotes opportunities through completion working with the CFO and the CFO's business/finance team in implementing third party acquisitions or divestitures.
  2. Leads or partners with multi-functional team members to develop and promote new business and internal optimization opportunities
  3. Acts as an internal consultant and advisor.  Provide oversight and expert assistance in business analysis.  Provides support and review of unique opportunities for the VPs' of refining, supply, and marketing and their staff
  4. Helps establish the framework and work processes for managing business opportunities (i.e. action plans); translates ideas into action plans and actionable opportunities; and first pass economic analysis. Continuously monitors developments in the downstream value chain for both new business opportunities and risks to existing business segments/assets.  Compares and evaluates CITGO and CITGO segment performance vs. competition for opportunities.
  5. Entreprenurially oriented.  Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of company business processes in order to identify and recommend unusual business opportunities up to and including entry into new business areas.  Advocates, discusses, and promotes such opportunities with senior level staff.
